MIXED MEDIA COLLAGE WORKSHOP
Markham, February 2018
Since the early 20th century, artists have been incorporating mass-market imagery found around them into their work, firmly placing collage as a valid, vital art form. The morning will be spent on 3-4 playful yet valuable hands-on exercises (mindful of critical elements such as composition and colour) to loosen you up for the afternoon project, which will be spent working on YOUR CHOICE: creating a new collage from scratch, adding on to a work in progress, or collaging on top of a discarded artwork that just didn’t work. Guidance and feedback will be provided throughout, and at the end of the day there will be a group discussion of the works which will expose the endless approaches of this versatile medium and inspire you for future projects.

RUSTED STEEL WORKSHOP with Marilyn McKay
Markham, October 2016
Artist Marilyn McKay demonstrated how to create a painting on steel using rust. The finished pieces can be hung outdoors once properly sealed. I then demonstrated various techniques by adding collage, paint effects, varnishes and a sander to push the process further. Not only did participants leave the workshop with a piece of garden art, but also with endless possibilities to explore and develop further in their own studios.

"I just hafta say that this workshop
had the WOW factor. Linda not only
gave us information that we were
able to use immediately, but her
joy of spirit had us all doing things
we may have not done before."
