This summer, acclaimed mixed media artist Linda Ruscio returns to her northern roots with a powerful new solo exhibition, “Northern Exposure”, on view from July 23 to August 8, 2025, at The Art Hub, Sault Ste. Marie.
Inspired by the rugged beauty of Northern Ontario, Ruscio’s latest work transforms industrial steel into luminous landscapes layered with paint, fabric, paper, and rusted textures. These mixed media pieces harness the raw, weathered surfaces of metal, altered through sanding and oxidation, to mirror the elemental character of the land.
“The North has always shaped my sense of wonder,” Ruscio reflects. “The colours, the quiet, the way light plays across rock and water—it stays with you. I wanted this series to feel like standing on the shoreline or deep in the forest—still, vast, and full of life beneath the surface.”
Combining traditional materials with unconventional substrates, the exhibition evokes the textures, shapes, and quiet drama of the northern wilderness, inviting viewers to experience the familiar landscape in an entirely new light.
